Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about what your daughter has. From the results of the analysis, these titres are sufficiently low and not very suggestive of a full blown typhoid fever. However, you would need a repeat test to see whether the numbers are going up to for sure confirm that an active infection is going on.

Ampicillin is not a typical drug for the treatment of typhoid fever. if for real this is the primary diagnosis, then the treatment would need to be evaluated again to see whether it is appropriate or not. The first line treatment for this are quinolones and chloramphenicol. Others like amoxicillin/amoxclav can also be used if there are any contraindications to the first line drugs.

Please, suggest to them to do a blood and stool culture to make sure this is the right diagnosis and right antibiotic to use. Did she ever have any temperature greater than 38.5?

I hope you find this helpful. Thank you so much for using our services and feel free to ask for clarifications if need be. I wish you the best of health.
