Tailbone removed. Diagnosed as cellulitis. Taken ciprofloxicin, tetricyclin, 1 cm pinhole opened. What could be going on?

hello, thank you for taking my question. i had my tailbone removed because it was arthritic. i developed an infection weeks later which was diagnosed as cellulitis. when ciprofloxicin failed to cure it in a month, the surgeon went back in to clean it out. i had the first culture which was neg. but he put me on tetricyclin. after a month, the 5cm wound closed. two weeks later, a 1cm pinhole opened. a cultulture said pos. for enterococcus and was given ampicillin. after a week, the hole closed again. its been 2 weeks and another pinhole had opened, even though i am still on the ampicillin. i had an mri which says less likely a bone infection, states a 2mm post op fluid near sacrum but otherwise normal. what do you think is going on here?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Non healing wound usually turn into non healing ulcer.
May be a pilonidal sinus.
Physical examination will reveal the exact cause.
Consult one more surgeon and get his opinion.
If not treated within short period , may spread to underlined bone.
Diabetes is one more reason of non healing wound.
Good luck.

My brother has no insurance and was recently diagnosed with cellulitis on his lower leg. He had a scan to rule out blood clot which fortunately was negative. He has taken his full dose of antibiotics and the swelling has been significantly reduced. The skin on his leg is still red (albeit less red) and purple. He is concerned that this discoloration will not go away. Please advise.

I have been diagnosed with cellulitis on my left foot and have been prescribed 2 antibiotics by mouth and 1 by ointment plus pain medication and have been taking this for 2 1/2 days. I am noticing my foot is discoloring and turning black and blue in all the places where there is open sores. Could this be a side effect or should I go back to the Emergency Room.

I have been experiencing some discomfort from my tailbone over the last few months. Recently I have been using a foam pad with a cut out for the tailbone area and it is making a big difference. I have been taking Advil on a somewhat regular basis to help. It seems to be healing , but its healing slowly. One thing that has been really annoying about this is that over the last few months, I have been having difficulty making a bowel movement . In the last few days I have not made a bowel movement. I took a laxative 2 days ago and it really helped, but since then I have not made a bowel movement (other than a couple very small ones).

Hi already for 8 years I have on and off digestive problems/ swollen lower abdomen , very painful / and gas. The doctors never did a real test or anything I ve been said I have an irritable colon , that s it, and the only thing I had to do is eat well. The last three months I ve been having twinging pain in my lower abdomen, more to the sides left and right and it is very very swollen.. plus Yesterday I felt like having a bowel movement , but I forced it a bit, and I started feeling A LOT of pain in my tailbone, I kneeled with my bottom heading up and then i fainted, when I woke up I was cold and sweaty but the pain was gone (though I had bitten my inner cheeks to bleed ) I don t know anymore if this is still just an irritable colon which has given me pain on and off every week in 8 years or more, but never as the last three or four months, and definitely not my tailbone..

In my 20s, I had been pushed very hard on to the wooden part of the arm (sofa) and had landed on my bottom. I had immediately after had experienced great pain, which I knew was my tail bone. I then went to the hospital due the pain and was unable to walk very well but was told at the Hospital that it was possible bruising and was given ibrophen tablets, eventually got better after a few weeks with plenty of rest and ibrophen tablets. However, Many years later in 1998. I had given birth to my son and had experiensed the same pain in the same area (coccyx ) and heard a poping sound in my lower back and felt pain afterwards. I was yet again in a lot of pain. I had found it difficult to look after my son. I had home help within my home; once a day two nurses had inserted pain killers up my bottom end due to the wicked pain I had experienced. I also had physiotherapy but can't remember how many times a week this was done at my home; Eventually this had also got better but unfortunately felt the same pain in my back and the tail bone, when I had my periods. In 2009 had gone for an examination for bowel cancer. Before I had gone to the hospital for the examination was sent some very powerful laxatives, to
empty my bowels. I had then yet again experienced the same servere pain in my tailbone but this time the pain has never gone away since. I have had MRI scans but the results came back as clear but still convinced that i have injuried my tailbone and lower back. It's difficult to keep still in the MRI scanes for a long length of time and wounded if this effected the results.

Hi, i had been sitting on my chair in the office for a long time, that too I would keep my legs on the CPU of the computer which was under the table. N I think the whole pressure must have gone on my tail bone coccyx. So from that time I have been getting pain. I have been trying to avoid sitting for a long time but at times there is little pain. What should I do? Do u think its serious
