TSH Levels Keep Fluctuating. Prescribed Thyronorm And Betacap. Should I Take Betacap?
I am 29. My TSH levels keep fluctuating. Its 11.2 when I got it tested last week. My heart beat is also a little more than 100 at times. Varies between 101 and 106. My doctor has put me on thyronorm 100 mcg and has also advised Betacap tr 40. Last time when I was put on thronorm 100 mcg , I had tremors in my hands. I am relectant about taking betacap since I've checked that there are certain side effects. I've been asked to lose weight as well. Please advise if I should be taking betacap?
Hi, Welcome to HCM, After going through your history it is clear that your TSH is high it is 11.2 it must be treated by Thyronorm to make you euthyroid. This is bit unusual to have tachycardia with as hypothyroid state causes slow heart rate, fast heart rate and tremors are signs of hyperthyroid if you are taking thyronorm of and on then it is possible to have fluctuating level of TSH. Please be regular in taking your medicine as you can start with low dose and then dose can be increased, Betacap is Betablocker and takes care of fast heart rate and tremors that is why your doctor prescribed it. It is necessary to take care of diet and exercise to lose weight. In case of any problem you can always take second opinion. Please take care Good Luck. Dr.Akhilesh Dubey M.D.
