Swollen Lump On Shin, Bone Feels Bruised. Any Thoughts?

Hi I do not remember hitting my left shin bone on anything but about two weeks ago I had a swollen lump near the top of the shin. The lump has gotten smaller but it feels like the bone is bruised for about an 8 inch area. I don t see any signs of dis coloration like you would associate with a bruise. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Dentist Dr. Neha Gupta's  Response
Hi,
Welcome to the forum.
A bruised tibia occurs when capillaries in the skin or bone of the tibia become damaged, allowing for swelling and minor internal bleeding. The signs that a bruised tibia has occurred include discoloration of the skin, tenderness or pain in the affected area, and swelling.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
Regards.
