Swollen Lower Lip, Crusts Over Peels Off, Small White Dots On Lip, Visible Inflammation With The Redness In Gums, Small Yellow Dots In Eyes, Lost Sense Of Smell And Taste

I have several things going on and may be connected. First, my bottom lip is swollen and crusts over and peels layers off. Inside that lip are small white dots and visible inflammation with the redness running up my gums to my teeth. Now my eyes have small yellow dots in the corners and inside the bottom lid. I have also started to wheeze even though I do not have a cold and feel good. I have dry eye and have lost most of my sense of smell and taste . When I scratch the side of my head I can feel it along my upper eyelids. Doctor and Dentist have no idea what this is. Any help would be appreciated.

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hi Sharijit,
Your symptoms are suggestive of viral infection.
It may be a simple adenovirus or, since you have mentioned the white spots along your lips and eye, it could be a Herpes simplex virus 1(HSV1) infection causing oral herpes or cold sores and ocular herpes with lesions in and around the eyes( keratitis and bells phenomenon).Due to spreading of the virus along the nerves around the eyes, in early stages you might be feel little discomfort over the lids.
But unless examined directly , we cannot come to a conclusion. So, have a second opinion with your general physician or an ophthalmologist. If it is a herpetic infection, a long term therapy of antiviral both oral and topical is required.

An added multivitamin will help for a faster recovery.

Please consult at the earliest. Get well soon.
