Swollen Knees And Thighs. Not Sore, Feels Tight. What Could Be Causing This?

Hi, my knees and thighs are swollen and have been for a while, they usually go down at night but they didn t last night, so they have been swollen for 2days. They are not sore but feel tight, what could be causing this? I recently just changed my life style to healthy from not so healthy could that do it ? Thanks, Dawn.

Thanks Dawn for your query.
Bilateral swelling of knees and thighs for sometime warrants ruling out diseases of the heart, kidney or liver. You require tests like serum protein - total and differential, Urine R/M, S. Creatinine. Also check your random blood sugar. If you dont have breathlessness, or high BP and considering you of 30 yrs, heart problem may not be there. If you have been having too much of alcohol, you need to have liver function tests and ultrasonography of abdomen. Take less salt and water. If the swelling is pitting, you may need diuretics like tab lasix 10mg daily for a short duration.
