Swollen Feet, Pain In The Leg. What Should I Do?

Thank you. I have terribly swollen feet that have come on rather rapidly. I am 89 years old, live in an excellent Assisted Living Facility in mid California. I have a painful upper leg problem for which I can receive a pill for being able to sleep more comfortable at nigt. I do have a car or can get other transportation to see my doctor. What should I be doing. My children are not nearby...one in Oregon and the other in Las Vegas.

Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
If both of your feet are swollen then systemic causes like renal or cardiac problems, hypertension, deep vein thrombosis, etc need to be considered. You need to have a battery of test under the guidance of your physician.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. You can consult me again directly through my profile URL http://bit.ly/Dr-Praveen-Tayal
