Swollen And Bruised Thumb. Taken Methylprednisolone. Serious?
Hi, The base of my right thumb swollen and bruised as shown in the picture. Bruised is more noticeable than what show in the picture. WWW.WWWW.WW My GP gave me anti-inflammation and Methyprednisolone (the second I see him which was yesterday) and also setup a schedule for me the see an Orthopedic in 2 1/2 weeks. However, I didn t notice the swollen and bruised when I went to see GP so he didn t know. This start a month ago. I woke up one day and already hurt. Is this not serious or should I go see GP again? Thank you very much.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The swollen and bruised thumb without any history of injury to the area could be due to an inflammatory disorder or a bleeding disorder. If taking methylprednisolone has not decreased the swelling then it is quiet worrisome and needs proper evaluation by an orthopedician. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
