Swollen Painful Knee

hi, iam a 45year old woman,  i have a very painful knee, the pain goes from the back of my knee to the front then down to my toes, the pain rating is 1-10 is 12. it is worse when sitting down or driving i also gettign while sleeping. it is also swollen. Please can you try and help. Thankyou.

You must consult a vascular surgeon as early as possible. Most probably you are having restless leg syndrome also. Read about it here:

Hi,
Knee pain with swelling in pain may be due to many reason one of the commonest cause is at 45 year old if are overweight may be be due to osteoarthritis of knee, other causes if have severe pain withredness and tenderness on knee may be septic arthritis,
tubercular arthritis. Rarely rhemotoid arthritis may be possible which usually affects many joints. consult orthopedician for detailed evaluation and treatment.

HI well come to HCM.
Involvement of single knee joint with swelling could be due to osteoarthritis being the
commeest cause for it.If you are obese than chances of occuring at this age are there
other wise its little early for your age.There could be other reason like pyo arthritis,
Haemoarthritis etc.Better consult ortho paedic surgeon for final conclusion. Thanks
