Switched From Loestrin To Lo Loestrin. Missed Period. Is That Normal?

Is it normal to miss your period when switching to a new birth control? I recently switched from Loestrin to Lo loestrin and have not had my period since I switched (3 moths). I was instructed by my doctor to skip my period when switching from Loestrin to Lo loestrin, but have not had a period at all since I have switched. A little spotting, but that is all. Is this normal?

Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is not common for a delay to occur but it is possible that your body is adjusting to the new hormone. You may want to rule out pregnancy as a cause of the delay.

The other causes , besides pregnancy, for period delay are: emotional or physical stress or illness, inadequate diet, high thyroid hormone levels, high levels of prolactin hormone, polycystic ovarian syndrome.

If the pregnancy test is negative then you want to consider visiting your doctor for an assessment.

I hope this helps
