Swelling In Left Calf With Fluid, Pain Radiating To Ankle. Prescribed Naproxen. Deployed On Ship, On Multiple Medications. Suggest

I am in the Navy and am deployed on a ship. But i have a medical question. About three weeks ago when I got changed for bed I noticed that my left calf was really swollen. It appears to be fluid. When I lay down (for my few hours of sleep) the swelling tend to go down. Like I said it has been like this for like three weeks. Today the pain is really bad (I never had pain with this until today), it radiates from the back of my calf to my ankle. Now my ankle usually hurts so that is nothing new (I have had 2 surgeries on that) but the pain that is going to my ankle is not my normal pain. Today I went to my medical and they gave me Naproxen for the pain and to maybe help the swelling. They are going to have me see a doc when we get to Bahrain (but that isn’t for a while) to check to see if it is a blood clot. Now I know some of these meds have a chance of causing a blood clot but I have been on them for years so I find it hard to believe it would be that. Could it be something else?
These are the meds I am on:
Betaseron
Imitrex
Baclofen
HCTZ (Hydrochorothiazide)
Zocor
Metformin
Nortiriptyline
Singular
Zertex
Flonase/nasalnex

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling in the calf with fluid inside can be due to an inflammatory cyst. Proper diagnosis can be done with investigations like MRI scan.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
