Hello, I am an neurological RN so I am on my feet frequently. I have significant swelling in my bilateral lower legs. If I check for pitting there will be dents in my legs but it is not like a +2. It rebounds pretty quickly but there is still a noticeable dent for a moment. If I sit for a while there is a lot of pain once I get up and move. The pain then improves after moving and if I continue to stay on my feet, I am fine. Once I sit down for a period of time they ache and to stand and move is terrible. I have tried to wear teds and stronger compression stockings. The stronger they are the more they hurt me. If I wear them when I sleep, they work on reducing the swelling A LOT but I can not tolerate the pain and usually have to take them off. I am overweight. I have recently tried to and lost 30 lbs but I still have the pain. I should loose more but now I am at the point I need to up the exercise and the pain is limiting me from doing so. I do not have varicose veins only a few spider veins. I am 44. I have OSA but wear a CPAP, it is followed closely and my last readings from my machine indicate very good effectiveness. I have had OSA diagnosed since I was 31 and I was not heavy at that time. They did take out my adenoids when I was 36 because they were so big. I was worried about pulmonary hypertension but I do not know how one would know if this was a problem. I do not take any medications except for the lowest dose Zoloft once a day. I sometimes use zantac, loratadine, Tylenol or ibuprofen. I have a bulging disk @ C6-7 which usually is not a problem but if my neck starts hurts I have a script for 1 vicodin every 6 hours to calm it down and in the past 6 years have only needed to get 2 epidural steroid injections for it. My vital signs are good. I am not hypertensive my HR can range from 60-100 depending on what I am doing. I wonder if I have an inflammatory problem. I had to take prednisolone for poison ivy this summer and I did not realize how much I hurt in my legs or all over until I was weaned off of it. Would a diuretic be a good idea? Watching NA is something I can do a better job of. Any other ideas? I usually have an over all body ache muscle ache at all times but the legs are the worst. I told my MD I have arthritis of the muscles . My joints don t usually hurt except for the neck I mentioned and my L hip (I think I hurt it playing volleyball) That is about it. Do you have any suggestions on what to ask my MD about. I think if I hurt less, I could exercise more.
