Swelling And Discomfort In Knee, Not Sore To Touch. Pain When Kneeling. Pulled Muscle?

My knee feels "fat". It is not sore to the touch but walking down stairs it has a strain when I bend it. This makes it feel swollen and uncomfortable. I can bend the knee with no problem in other situations and not get this feeling. When I am forced to kneel quickly, there is pain in the back of my knee. I usually massage the sides and back of my knee to relieve the soreness. Did I pull something?
