Sweating of face and palms, rapid heart rate?

Last sunday when driving my car ,i had sweating of face and palms. My heart was beating rapidly.I parked and drank water and try to remain calm. But heart continues to beat fast.Called my friend to take me home...rested and in evening went to urgent care facility. They took ECG/blood test and the result is normal. No medication prescribed. I had a similar episode last november 2006.I consulted cardiologist and he says its panic attack. No medication. Does it comes on and off like this ?.OR should i go for getting CT scan done for stroke or is it because of hyperthyroid(blood test is normal).Iam male of 33 years old with family. My PCP is asking to take beta blocker (TOPOROL-XL) for life. Any suggesstions

Why are they wanting to give you meds when they have no diagnosis. I have had panic attacks like that and they do come on out of nowhere. frightning... I suggest second opinion. and why for life...? what arent they telling you? Go for nice long walks in the eve. get more sleep. and try to relax something is bothering you wheather you realize it or not. I would ask for a MRI if you are that concerned just for peace of mind. I hope you feel better.

I was at work day before yesterday and my heart started racing and pounding so hard in my chest I couldn t catch my breath. My face turned beat red and hot, even though I was in a 34 degree room, and started pouring sweat. I have always had a faster heart rate, resting around 102. Could that be a heart problem? There is heart disease in my family, my mother namely

I am a 24 and a half year old white female with 3 children ages 4 and under. My heart rate is normally on the higher side when I am pregnant and that s pretty much the only time I ever check it. But I ve been checking it a lot the past few days and every time it s been between 101-109bpm. Even after just waking up after sleeping. Sometimes I do feel like my heart is racing. Is this something I should get checked out by a doctor?

My 19 year old daughter just had an episode of severe sweating (drops of sweat on face and neck), rapid heart rate, and tingling fingers. Symptoms are relieving after 30-40 minutes, but arms feel very limp and weak, and she is extremely fatigued. Should I be concerned?

I am 23 and I have Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. I have been on beta blockers for 4 years and have gotten quite use to my fast heart. However, over the past month when I move from a resting position, or walk my body gets very tingly and I get weak/lightheaded. I am waiting to get an apt with my cardiologist but it seems he is completely booked. Please let me know any ideas you might have about this.

I am 66, 5'2" and 155lbs. I developed a fib 2 years ago (now regulated) and was put on an older beta blocker plus I have high blood pressure for which I am now on the 5th different med ...I take 0.137 mg synthroid daily for 30 years, strength has varied over the years from 0.075 to as high as 0.2mg...my tsh, which is the only measurement my physician will consider, is usually 2.5 or thereabouts...in the last few months my hypothyroid symptoms have increased and on the last lab my tsh was very high, over 8 so I know my thyroid level is very low...I am very fatigued, depressed and most upsetting am eating less and getting fatter, where before I was overweight but firm and now I can feel fat in my thighs and upper arms plus around my abdomin which I never had before. Research shows the older type of beta blocker, atenolol, can slow metabolism and cause insulin resistance, (I am not diabetic) is it safe to simply stop one beta blocker and start another...in fact, I'd like to get off it altogether but the last time my physician said to just stop taking it, I developed pvc's which was corrected by increasing the atenolol. I am distressed about the side effects of this drug and wld like to take something less toxic.

Hi. I had sinus tachycardia a year ago. They found nothing in an EKG. Then I experienced very strong skipped beats. They put me through a stress test, echo, long term EKG and found nothing but prescribed beta blockers. For the past couple of months, during the evening sometimes, I feel dizzy (lightly) and a bit light headed. The skipped beats become frequent if I drink alcohol, even a little beer. Last night I dreamed that my heart was racing really really fast and in my dream itself I thought I was getting atrial fibrillation, then I woke up. What could be happening?
