Suggest Ways To Withdraw From Ambien Medicines

I have used Ambien for approximately 14 months. Started at 5mg/night, moving to 10mg/night shortly thereafter. Having trouble discontinuing use. Doctor advised that I take 5mg every other night for two nights, then quit. Terrible withdrawal symptoms. Any suggestions on how to stop using this medication?

Dear User,

Thanks for using health care magic.

From the available description it appears that you are facing problem with discontinuation of ambien. Although ambien is not known to cause withdrawal symptoms if it causes so than there is indication that you have persistent problem for which you are taking ambien. My advise is to stop it in range of 20 -25 % per week and take at least four to six weeks to stop it completely.
I mean to say from 10 mg reduce it to 7. mg and than to 6.25mg for another week and than 5 mg for another week and continue reducing it for next few weeks.

'Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help".
Thanks
