Suggest Ways To Wean Off Of Lorazepam

My Dr. has me on Lorazapan for 3 months & I feel I may be addicted to that drug. What should I do? I am getting concerned as I have my teeth chattering & some deep breathing(hiccup) effects during the day. I take the drug in the morning and at night as prescribed by my family Dr.

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

You can reduce the dose by 10% for the first two weeks followed by 5% reduction in dose every 2 weeks.
I this regimen causes withdrawal symptoms, you can follow up with your treating physician to add diazepam concurrently while tapering off Ativan.
Since Diazepam is a long acting benzodiazepine, it will make tapering easier.

Hope this answers your question
