Dietitian & Nutritionist 's  Response
Hello,

If I was your treating professional, and only after a complete assessment, I would probably advise a mixture of fucoxanthin/EGCG, given no assessed drug nutrient interactions, to help with the weight gain caused by the antidepressants. I would combine this with a meal plan (1000 calories less than your assessed need to maintain current weight) for a 2 lb weight loss per week (given a sedentary lifestyle).

Since, you are dealing with an injury and exercise is important for any successful weight loss program, I would encourage: stretching, cardio bed exercises, and any "Sit Fit" video which teaches exercises that can be done in a chair. I would also encourage a Physical Therapy program to help initiate these suggestions.

I would discuss the type of meal plan most desired and explain the advantages of a Very Low Carbohydrate Diet to preserve muscle mass in light of reduced activity and need for reduction in calories.

All these ideas should be discussed with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist who can individualize your meal plan, exercise program, supplement program (if any) and provide the guidance, education and motivation for you to succeed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kathy Shattler
