Suggest Ways To Quit Smoking

I need to know if it is possible to be hospitalized under a doctors care ( in Canada) to get help to quit smoking. I have COPD and it is getting worse but nothing I have ever taken to quit has worked for me. I am a long term (56 years) smoker and need help badly.

Hello,

I can understand your concern. I do know if hospitals take patients who need to quit smoking, but I am sure that rehabilitation centers do take patients and help them to quit smoking, manage withdrawal symptoms and rehabilitate.

You need to have unshakable determination to quit smoking. Nicotine patch, lozenges and other NRT products can be used to quit smoking gradually.

In addition, you can make a list of withdrawal symptoms that you suffered from the last time when you try to quit smoking and what made you relapse and you can work on them. I am sure you can quit smoking with hard work and determination even if you have smoked for 100 years.

If you do not want to go to rehabilitation center, you can contact a psychiatrist or mental health professional who can give you counselling sessions and prescription medicines that can help you in quitting smoking.

I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you quit smoking soon.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
