Suggest Ways To Handle Mood Swings In A 12 Year Old Boy

Hello, My son just turned 12 and he is changing at a phenomenal rate and I cannot understand him. He use to be your typical good, polite kid who obeys and applies the rules. As soon as he turned 12, he is not worried about school anymore. He lies to me about his homework. Nothing works with him, no encouragement, no consequence. He is nonchalant all the time, nothing is more important then his social life at school. Is this the good child syndrome that s talked about ? While I understand that he is going through a phase, I am worried I will lose a handle on him and won t be able to guide him in the future when he needs it. My fear is thing rebellious behavior gets worse. Can you please help ?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi dear!

Thanks for consulting the Physicians at HealthCare Magic. I have worked through your case thoroughly, and I can easily realize your health worries. Being your physician, I reassure you not to worry as things will settle down very soon.
Yes its normal for teenagers. One more year and he may have extreme spells. Its normal separation behavior amongst the kids of this age group. Make him your best friend. Let him Share his thoughts with his best friend (you). Dont be a parent. He needs a friend more. Please read a book named Child Development by Laura E. Burk. It has all what's needed at every step of human life cycle. Hope it helps.

May you get very well soon and have a wonderful time ahead. Please don't forget to give your valuable feedback to help us assist you in a better way. Click at 'I Find This Answer Helpful' & give a five Stars too. Write a review about your experience with me.
