Suggest Treatments For Crushed Optic Nerves Due To Brain Swelling

Hi,

I have a 75 year old female friend who suffered crushed optic nerves 20 years ago from brain swelling. She was on big doses of steroids initially and then decreasing amounts for years; now the dosage is zero.

Has there been stem cell or any other type of therapy showing promise to be effective within her lifetime?
