i've had a crvo about a year ago. i had the steroid shot in it to reduce the bleeding. it feels now like something is poking out my eye from the inside out. it comes and goes and sometimes is more severe. i'm seeing my doctor in 2 weeks. is there anything i can do till then. i am completely blind in that eye. i also have glaucoma. thanks
Hello Central retinal vein occlusion called as CRVO is occlusion of retinal vein and it results in gross diminution of vision. It causes glaucoma as a complication by 3 months and it is because of new blood vessels which proliferate and block the drainage of aqueous humor. The treatment of CRVO is by pan retinal photocoagulation to prevent development of glaucoma. Since you are blind in that eye treatment is only to reduce the intraocular pressure for pain relief. The treatment consists of antiglaucoma drugs and surgical treatment in the form of glaucoma surgery or laser or cyclocryotherapy.
Since you are seeing your doctor shortly as of now you can use oral analgesic drugs.
Thank you
