Suggest Treatment To Reduce Weight

Hi Doctor,

I had been bit over weight right from the day I know. I hope since my mother is bit obsess, it might be a genetical problem.

Could you please suggest me with some medicines to reduce my weight.

Altough I have stopped doing morning work-out from past 6 months which I have again started.

From fast 3 yrs, I had been ensuring to have a proper diet. But my body weight doesn't seems to be decreasing.

Hello,
I cannot tell what type of diet you are on from your question (American, Indian, etc), but obesity management was my major in college. You sound as if you do have the gene for obesity. Do not obsess over medications, most are harmful in the end or have bad side-effects. You must have a lower kcal diet than someone else your wt and ht. These are the most important things for you: 1) stimulate your metabolism through drinking green tea with caffeine 3x per day (if no health problems re caffeine); 2) limit fruit intake to no more than 2 per day with no fruit juice and nothing with high fructose corn syrup in it; 3) Eat the vegetable that have few kcals such as green beans, spinach, asparagus and look up in the computer low glycemic foods and try to stick to the low glycemic foods; 4) cut down on saturated fats/trans fats and fats overall; emphasize monounsaturated and cook with virgin olive oil but no fried foods. You MUST exercise a mixture of cardio and strength training. You should strive for 150 minutes of cardio workout at 60% of your Maximum Heart Rate to start (burns more fat) and gradually increase intensity. Maximum heart rate is determined by taking 220 - age and multiplying by .6 for 60%. You must be vigilant your entire life since you have the genes that causes your insulin to rise just by looking at a food commercial. Hope that gives you some insight as to dietary and exercise approach. Please reply with a thank you if pleased with my answer.
