Suggest Treatment To Heal Wounds
My mom has two wounds that are slow to heal. They were surgically debried but need further debridement. Drs. are resistant to do so because she has a trach and they are working on weaning her off it. she is put on a vent for a few hours a night. we agree that we do not want her to go through surgery either. do you think she would be a good candidate for maggot therapy? we are at a long term facility in jackson, ms. How could we approach doctors about using this method?

1. Don't scratch the lesion as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like Fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) like Ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like Levofloxacin, Cefadroxil and Azithromycintaken only after consulting a dermatologist.
If the problem persists then consult a dermatologist.
