Suggest Treatment To Get Rid Of A Large Mole On The Back

Hi, I am a 24 year old female and have always had a large, dark raised mole on my back. However tonight, when I was getting dressed, it felt as if the surface of the mole was dry, and a couple of dark brown bits did come off when I scratched gently with my finger. Other than that, size, shape, etc still seems the same and it still soft. Should I be worried? Thanks, Tanya

My Dear

Welcome to Healthcaremagic!
I have assessed your description of the problem and think that this description matches with that of a Melanocytic Nevus or mole.

These moles are generally quiet but once in a while, may undergo infection, growth, or even a malignant change. To my patients I always advise that though there is no urgency, they should get them removed because anything that can undergo malignant change should not be allowed to remain on the body in first place.

Please get the removed mole examined after removal to rule out a malignant change.

For now, you can apply antibiotic cream since scratching might have led to greater chances of it getting infected.

Best wishes
