Hi,

Beta blockers are particularly effective in hypertensive patients with tachycardia, which in your case may be due to anxiety (rule out hyperthyroidism causing pulse rate >90/min and anxiety states, by serum free T3, free T4 & TSH). Cardioselective beta blocker Metoprolol has a better profile. Adjunctive medication such as a beta blocker is often used in Anxiety disorders. In such case of anxiety disorders and hypertension, a beta blocker would be helpful to allay both the factors. Your target BP should be 130/80 mm Hg. Consult your doctor.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
