Suggest Treatment For White Patch On Tongue When On Serevent

I was taking Symbicort, developed what they though was thrush and Dr. changed me to SereVent. Have white patch on left side of tongue that is very sensitive. it has been about 5 months since start of this. Dentist says it is not thrush or geographic tongue. He thinks I should have a biopsy. Would you agree?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

As per your query white patch on tongue which is very sensitive is definitely a matter of concern. If it is painless and not changing shape then it could be thrush, leucoplakia or lichen planus, now as it is painful it should be diagnosed as early possible.

I would suggest you to visit oral pathologist once and get biopsy done. Biopsy will rule out any skin malignancy or oral pathology. after that your treatment can be started accordingly.

Maintain proper oral hygiene off oral cavity, clean tongue daily. Scrap off white deposits very lightly just to remove debris. Drink alot water. Donot eat spicy, sharp food.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
