When I go to sleep, I have a hard time falling sleep because I can hear a sound coming from my mouth, wheezing. I hear noises coming from mi chest. I have been using and inhaler prescribed by a doctor but does not think to be working. please tell me what it could be.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Wheezing at night may be due to Nocturnal asthma or obstructive sleep apnea or tonsillitis or adenoids/turbinate hypertrophy or COPD or bronchitis with asthmatic episodes, etc. Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. Avoid cool drinks and freeze water avoid smoking and alcohol intake. Use water vapour inhalation and salt water gargling thrice a day for five days. Check your pulmonary function through PFT, chest X-ray and CT chest. Consult your pulmonologist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
