Suggest treatment for weight gain post menopause

i am 49 years old, recently going through menopause. I have found that I am at least 15 pounds overweight. I am 5 9 and have always weighed around 130. I am now at 148 and basically starving myself to loose the weight, without seeing any results. I am currently working out too. My stomach seems to be hard and I can t even suck my stomach in. Could I be dealing with something other than weight gain of food? Thank you

Hello,

Hypothyroidism will be a possibility. Consult an endocrinologist and get evaluated. Go for thyroid function test also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
