Suggest Treatment For Vomiting

Hello, my name is Celena Stoos. I m 17 and I live in Helena, MT. About a week and a half ago I caught a common cold, and I ve been coughing since. I have not felt sick at all besides that, but this morning around 3 I woke up and felt like I needed to throw up. After that I was up every hour since puking, unfortunately I was also sitting on the toilet, having to use my trash to throw up in. It was pure liquid out both ends till about noon today. This entire time I ve been having a severe jabbing pain in my left side, I assume right about where one of my ovaries are located. It s been slightly bugging me for a week or so but after all of the coughing and throwing up today it has become much worse. Everything in my menstrual cycle is normal, I should be expecting my next period on the 24th. After resting I felt tons better, I kept down some chicken broth and blueberries for a couple hours and I was feeling hopeful. I took another nap and when I woke up, I was almost 10x worse. This time I sipped a couple spoonfuls of broth, but that lasted maybe 5 minutes. I m drinking plenty of water, but keeping none of it down, I haven t been able to urinate all day, I assume because it s all coming back up. My diarrhea has stopped, but I also assume that s because I have nothing left in me. I m not running a fever at all, but I m not feeling any better. I also have a lot of lower back pain right now that seems to be sending pain through my hips, legs, and especially my knees. I was considering going to the doctor in the morning, but thought I d do some snooping around first. I m concerned because I haven t eaten anything out of the normal, I rarely get sick, and when I went to bed a couple hours before 3 a.m., I didn t feel sick or whatsoever besides my cold. Thank you for your help.

Hello Celena,
You sound as if you have caught a common viral gastro enteritis. My concern is that you mention are not keeping any liquids down and not having urination, previously having the diarrhea which now has stopped. These sound like severe dehydration, you should consider seeking medical attention at an urgent care or ER to get fluid rehydration via intravenous route. you can damage your kidneys if you become too dehydrated. likely this illness will pass, but getting fluids into your veins while you are unable to keep food down, is important. Hope this helps.
