General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted your history about visible epiglottis as per your PCP, have tonsil related problems and so on.
In many persons the epiglottis can be easily visible.
But if it was not seen i n past and now can be seen easily means there may be some disease or lump pushing it up.
Hence you need to see an ENT Surgeon as he is well trained and also experienced to know whether this is normal or not.
If required that is suspected if some problem then a CT scan is also needed to confirm or rule out the problems.
As for the tonsil related problems appropriate investigations and management with an antibiotic, anti-inflammatory medicines can help to get a cure.
As for the hoarse voice laryngoscopy can tell the diagnosis and with other symptoms that you have mentioned cancer should be ruled out was early as possible.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, ENT and General Surgeon
