Suggest Treatment For Viral Fever In A Child

Hi, My 15 month old baby had viral fever a week ago. I gave him calpol and meftal p (once, when the temp crossed 103F). He was fine in two days and developed a cough after almost a week. Yesterday I noticed white froth in his stool. What could be the reason? His cough is dry without any phlegm and he also has a runny nose and sneezes quite often. Should I take him to the doctor?

Hi
Thanks for posting on HCM
Runny nose with cough may be caused by a respiratory tract infection. Most of these infections are of viral origin and may not need only symptomatic treatment. However, bacteria infection or superinfection is possible and will need antibiotics.the symptoms could as well be caused by allergy.

Froth in stool may signal an associated digestive infection that could be of viral, bacterial or parasitic origin.I will suggest you see the Doctor for examination and investigations.Tests that may help identify the causes of his problems may include: ESR, full blood count, stool exam/culture.
I will suggest
-you continue with anti-pyretic like calpol
-A steroid like celestene drops
Then see your Doctor for evalaution and investigation.
Hope this will help
Best regards
