Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Itching

good morning doc, im 31 yrs old, and lately i am experiencing vaginal itchiness and frequently goes to the toilet to pee...i had sexual intercourse a few weeks back...can you suggest where do i go for consultation and what medicines would they probably give?...thank you =)

Hello,
Your symptoms are suggestive of urinary infection in association with vaginitis. You should see a gynecologist for a proper local examination, vaginal swabs, cervical swabs, pap smear and urinalysis to identify the cause and plan further management. Vaginal infections can be treated with both oral and vaginal medications and the course is usually from 2-6 months, wherein, prophylaxis is also included. The male partner also is treated and abstinence maintained until complete cure to prevent recurrence. Use of barrier contraception helps to prevent such issues. Hope this helps.
