Suggest Treatment For Vaginal Atrophy

I am interested it taking something for vaginal atrophy but am concerned about using anything with estrogen in it as I never went on an HRT during menopause and my doctor says for me to take it now after the fact would be more at risk for heart attach or clots or stroke. I am just starting now to use a vibrator. Is there anything you can recommend that I can use over the counter to help get my vagina back in shape?

Hi,

With the start of the menopausal phase there occurs vaginal dryness, vaginal irritation due to lack of moisturizer, pain/burning on urination, spotting after intercourse. Treatment for a lower level of estrogen, estrogen replacement therapy under a gynecologist, vaginal estrogen cream (Premarin), vaginal estrogen tablets (Vagifem) for local application.

Supplements like Vitamin E (Evion) and Vitamin D are also equally effective in increasing the lubrication and also helps to absorb the calcium. Avoid addictions smoking, caffeine, drugs, etc., if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

OBGYN Dr. Meena Jethani 's  Response
Hello,

Because vaginal atrophy is distressful condition, you can use some lubricant to avoid problems from vaginal atrophy but as a whole it won't correct your atrophy per se. You can also locally apply Estriol cream available in the market, it will treat your vaginal atrophy and no systemic side effect.

Hope I have answered your query.
