Suggest Treatment For Urine Infection

Evening, my question: My 39 year old son, who is in prison, recently had a urine infection, where he was urinating with blood and bleeding after urinating. During this, he would have extreme pelvic pain. He also mentioned his urine felt 'sandy'. Prison doctors gave him Biacin 500mgs. What is your opinion?
