Suggest Treatment For Trigger Finger And Tendinitis

I had surgery for carpal tunnel about 6 months ago. (I am 56, take no medications, a little overweight but in good health.) Since the surgery one side of my middle finger is extremely sensitive and the muscle in my palm, below pinky finger, at my wrist frequently has pain in it; resting it on the desk while using mouse makes it hurt. I have been told I now have trigger finger in the thumb on that hand and am now having stabbing pains in my wrist and up into my hand and fingers, along with what feels like tendinitis when I move hand or fingers certain ways. I can hold something in my hand and turn wrist slightly and have a pain and lose my grip on what I am holding; or I try to turn a doorknob but can t open the door; or point my finger at my grandaughter and motion for her to come here and it causes pain, I can t put any weight on my hand, like to help push myself up...Is all this coincidental or could it be caused from the surgery? What can I do ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

* As per my surgical experience, there is definite nerve compression at the carpel tunnel level giving agony of symptoms.
* In our clinic, I recommend an MRI of the wrist and nerve conduction study to further evaluate and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
