My 93-year old mother has what they call a tortuous esophagus. We are finding conflicting suggestions on what is safe for her to eat. She has no trouble chewing or swallowing. Her issue is delayed as the food goes further down the esophagus and backs up. All say she should be on a chopped/mechanical soft diet. The big difference is some say bread, cake, pancakes, muffins, oatmeal, etc are okay and others say they are forbidden. All say things with nuts, seeds, fruit with skins are not allowed. What is your opinion on the questionable categories?
