Suggest Treatment For Torn Distal Supraspinatus Tendon

I have a complex tear of the distal supraspinatus tendon. The tear is primarily articular in nature and partial thickeness but does have a small full thickness component anterioly. The tear measures approximatly 1.7 cm in the anterior to posterior dimension and approximately 1.1 cm in the transverse dimention. There is no significant proximal retraction of the torn tendon fibers. The surpraspinatus tendinosis. The infraspinatus tendon also demonstrates mild tendinosis measuring 5 x 5 mm. There is more and it is very long but does this mean I will need surgery?

Hi,

I advise you to get diagnostic arthroscopy done to rule out any missed information on previous investigation.

In general if tear is partial and patiant is young, we don't advise surgery.

But if we found complex tear in arthroscopy then we may repair.

The option is yours.
