Suggest Treatment For Tonsillitis

Hi. I have swollen tonsils I think. Mainly on right side. Not painful but my mouth is very dry and it s difficult to swallow. I suffer a lot with extreme itching especially on legs arms or back. Although tonight I didn t. And night sweats. These haven t been as severe or constant since getting mirena coil last may. But I don t use duvet on bed anymore and am often waking up wet all over. Though less often like I mentioned earlier. What could be the cause please. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Tonsillitis develops mainly due to bacterial infection. Consult a general practitioner and start a short course of antibiotics preferably Amoxiclav. Do warm saline gargles for symptomatic relief:

If symptoms persist better to consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
