Suggest Treatment For Tonsillitis And Hives On Lower Back
I have had a cold the last week and a cough too. Over the past two days I developed a lump in the back of my throat. I have had this in the past and it usually turned out to be tonsillitis. But this time around I started to develop hives on my lower back. This has not happened to me before. I m just wondering if it s something serious and worth getting checked out or just take some over the counter meds. Thanks
Hello and welcome to HCM, Lump on back of throat could be due to recurrence of tonsillitis. However, a clinical assessment is required to diagnose the condition and for prescription of appropriate antibiotics. Development of hives on lower back is unlikely to be associated with tonsillitis. Hives usually develop due to reaction of body against certain allergens. Hives are a group of red colored bumps and they are usually associated with itching and burning. Is there history of allergy in the past? If yes then these hives could be a result of allergy. Anti-allergic or anti-histaminic treatment will be required to treat the allergic reaction. I suggest you to consult your primary healthcare provider for clinical assessment of throat and hives.
Thanks and take care Dr Shailja Puri
