Suggest Treatment For Tightness In Muscles

Severe muscle type pain through the hip area. Sometimes hurts to just walk. Have always been very active; I swim 3x a week, walk the dog, and can now barely climb steps without pain. Feels more like tightness in muscles rather than joint pain. I stretch gently morning and evening though it doesn t seem to help at this point. What else can / should I do?

I have read your query and understand your concern,muscle spasm are usually caused due to excessive muscle strain like sudden heavy exercise,dehydration,muscle fatigue,inadequate warming up before exercise.I suggest my patients with similar conditions:

1.To take rest for few days which will reduce the pain in the hip reducing the inflammation,don't stretch the area much it will increase the inflammation.

2.Maintain adequate hydration with proper intake of electrolytes,1 sachet of Electral powder mixed in 1 liter of water will solve the purpose.

3.Give warm compresses to the affected area.

4.Anti inflammatory medications like tab.ibuprofen with a muscle relaxant like tab.myospaz forte will help to relieve the spasm.

5.Local application of volini gel will assist for pain relief along with the above medications.

5.If still the pain is not relieved consult an orthopaedician to do an X-ray hip joint to rule out any fracture or dislocation of hip joint.
