Suggest Treatment For Tibial Plateau Fracture

Hi, my brother has a lateral non displaced tibial plateau fracture. He is currently on holiday and where there is no hospitals within reach. He is not experiencing much pain but the MRI confirmed the injury. What is the risk of continuing the holiday, including putting weight on the leg?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is better to see orthopedic doctor as soon as possible. Actually we should determine the severity of this injury. Sometimes they can be resolved without surgery. However in more serious injuries, surgery is a must. Try to avoid putting weight on that leg. Plus take oral OTC pain killers.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Albana Sejdini, General & Family Physician
