Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
i have a 7 month old son, about 23-24pounds who has been diagnosed with thrush but the antibiotics the emergency room has perscribed did not take it away. he still has the soars slightly in his mouth and now has been slightly pukin up what little food he does eat. im not sure if its from this or not but also the other day he broke out in a weird rash but it only lasted for a few mins and now has some spots that almost look like bites but they were caused from the rash. my biggest concern is that when it comes time to eating you basically have to hold open his mouth to get him to eat his favoriate foods or even drink a bottle at the moment. i need some suggestions please cause nothing seems to be helping and he has no teeth as of yet or bumps or anything but he does eat his hands alot and the fact that hes havin to have his mouth forced open and wont eat baby food barley at all its becoming a big concern..... i just dont understand because he has been sleeping a little more in the past few days but does not appear to be cranky or even act slightly sick
Hi, Thank you for asking question on health care magic. Antibiotics do not cure thrush. Thrush is a fungal infection due to Candida albicans. Anti fungal drugs like Nystatin or Miconozole will help Plenty of fluids, vitamins and nutrtious food are required. If he does not take oral feeds, nasogastric feeding may be necessary. Better consult pediatrician Hope this answer will serve your purpose Please feel free to ask any more queries if required Take care Dr.M.V.Subrahmanyam MD;DCH Associate professor of pediatrics
