Suggest Treatment For Throat Irritation

last night i was eating some fajita meat and a small piece is stuff in my throat. it is far enough down that i cant cough it out and for some reason i can swallow it the rest of the way either. Other than it is just causing me stress in general, i guess its fine, I can breath and talk fine. I have drank tons of water thinking it would eventually go on down. I finally decided to eat to see if other foods would take it down, no luck, I still feel it there. Is there anything I need to do? Should i be worried? Do I need to go to see a dr to have it removed? it has to be an actual piece of food cuase i can feel it more some. Any suggestions will be much appriciated!

Hello there,
Many times when we eat and something gets stuck in the throat it abrades the throat tissue such that for a long time after it has gone we keep feeling the food particle there (due to irritation). However eating cooked rice, bananas, or dry bread are ways in which you could try to get rid of the stuck piece. But if you still feel like it is there then an ENT specialist has to see you and examine the throat with a tube to make sure that is there and remove it if needed and possible. They will use a local anaesthetic spray so that you dont feel the tube while they examine. For an adult its not something to panic but I would still say do not delay and try to visit the doctor if you still feel the food particle stuck even after try everything I suggested.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
