Suggest Treatment For Throat Irritation And Runny Nose

I m occasionally allergic to vehicle fumes and cigarette smoke. Long back a doctor told me that this happened because of lack of oxygen intake as I sleep in a closed room. (true). For the last couple of days the symptoms are back again and I m having throat irritation(more in busy streets) and occasional runny nose. I was cured with Allercet last time. Half a tablet at night. I can t wait till night and just want to know whether I can have a dose of Allercet now in the morning. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Well, your symptoms seems to be due to pollutants present in vehicles fumes and cigarette smoke leading to allergic reaction which has symptoms like throat irritation and runny nose. It is generally treated with anti allergy medicines or anti-histamines that helps in reducing the severity of symptoms.

Allercet in also an anti allergy medicine that contains active ingredient Cetirizine and in your case it can be helpful. It is advised to take this medicine at night only as it can make you a little drowsy / sleepy. So in case if you want to take it in the day time it will be better for you to stay at home. It will also help you to stay away from pollution and help in getting better soon.

Also, to reduce throat irritation do warm saline gargles and drink warm water and warm fluids. Whenever you go out wear anti-pollution mouth mask to cover your nose and mouth to reduce the effect of pollutants entering your body. Doing steam inhalations can also help.
