Suggest Treatment For Throat Infection

I have generalized anxiety disorder so I am freaking out even though I m seeing my primary care Dr first thing in the am. I ve had a persistent fever for almost two weeks, it started on friday the 15th at 101.7. It spiked the next day to 103.7 so I went to the er where they gave me ibuprofen and prednisone to reduce the painful swelling in my throat (strep test was negative and the prednisone was amazing). I had a fever on Sunday and Monday but treated it quickly and it went away when I went back to work on Wednesday and thursday. The fever came back on friday with no throat symptoms and it was low grade at 100.8. The next day was Saturday and the fever was 100.3 all day. Mono was negative, strep was negative and my breathing was clear. Fever was gone on Sunday and Monday but now it came back yesterday and today at 99.3 to 99.6. My temp when I m NOT sick (even before this started) is 97.6 so even Temps of 98.6 which I ve had are elevated for me. Now I have a cough and it a not persistent, but when I do cough it s a variation of yellow and pink phlegm. My chest is also uncomfortable when I try to breathe deep. My lymph nodes have also been swollen since this started but I think they ve reduced in size a bit. I also have low energy and lack of appetite as well as weight loss but no vomiting. I m not a smoker and the fever is still lingering. What could it possibly be?

With all the information you have provided, it does not look like an infection at all. It is important for you to get a more thorough check- up done to rule out a connective tissue disorder. Also, inflammation due to allergy could cause a problem so avoid exposure to dust and smoke and do daily steam inhalations.
