Suggest Treatment For Throat Discomfort And Raspy Voice

The doctor told me I had reflux laryangitis two months ago because of all the medicines I have been taking. At that time I was on a 4 week course of amoxcillin for Lyme. I have not taken that medicine for the past month and I cannot clear my throat and I could be in the middle of a conversation and my throat gets very raspy. What s next?

Hi,

As per your query, you have symptoms of throat discomfort and raspy voice which seems to be due to obstructive upper respiratory tract infection.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you do warm saline gargles and take steam twice a day. Avoid the use of sharp and spicy food substances. Avoid cold carbonated beverages. You should start with a course of antibiotics and anti-inflammatory medications. Your symptoms will resolve in 1 week. if symptoms keep on persisting you should consult ENT specialist and take proper treatment. You should get an X-ray chest done along with pulmonary function tests. The doctor may prescribe antibiotics along with decongestants and mucolytic agents.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
