Suggest Treatment For The Tendency Of Blockages In Arteries

This question is addressed to Dr. Erali only. I am a 64 year old male, retired from a 3.5 decades of marketing profession. In 1992 I had suffered from two blocs in the arteries of my heart, one 100% and the other 80%. My Dr. kept me on Ecospirin 150 (One per day), Dilzem 60 three per day, which I have been taking since then without fail. Since last about five years while walking I used to get lower back pain which will then radiate into my legs, compelling me to stop walking, and if continued, I used to get discomfort on my chest and jaws. In about one year ago I was detected to be suffering from Lymph Node TB and a bulge on my right shoulder was removed. While continuing the TB medecine, I used to get during the night discomfort at my chest and lower side of my jaws above the neck, just similar to heart attacks. On consultation with my Dr. I was told that it is due to the side effects of my TB medicine, so I continued my life, on and off suffering the pain, during the night. Later on it used to come while walking and on taking rest it used to go. Finally I suffered a massive heart attack on November 2014 last week and undergone a bypass surgery, which was actually critical. The procedure was conducted by Dr. Bejoy Kutty in Mumbai. While doing the agio Dr. Chonkar who was my Cardiologist informed me that there are blockages in my iliac arteries thereby blood circulation to both my legs are being affecgted, therefore my back pain and legs pain are happening. Even after Bypass these pains continued. Dr. Suggested that I have to place stents in my iliac arteries for which I submitted myself. While doing the angio Dr. found out that there was one more blockages at the joint of the iliac artery. So three stents were placed in my abdomen. Now I am able to walk about 10 minutes as against about 3 to 5 minutes earlier. However, by 10 minutes I start getting the pain especially on right leg calf muscle and lower back and if walking continued discomfort on the chest. Dr. Said that my body has a tendency to get blockages which has to be controlled by medicin. I am now taking Acetron 1 and 1.5 alternate days, Athorva 40, Prucelac 10 one per day, Orcibest half per day, Clopilet A 75 two per day, Stilloz 150. I am also diabetic for the last 10 years and right now under Zoril M 1 one before B/F, 1 Before Lunch and half before dinner. I would like to know whether I can get my blockages removed and I will be able to walk about 15-20 minutes. I have been a disciplined person doing yoga, pranayam and meditation right from my 16 years. However, off and on it used to be missed due to my night college education, for about 15 years, and marketing profession whereby I used to be burning midnight oil for meetings, presentations, conferences etc. I want solution to my diabetics and blockages, and want to walk. If you can answer me with your suggestions, I will be thankful to you. I am born and braught up in Trichur District, and did my schooling in GHS Peringottukara, and rest of the studies were done in night colleges at Mumbai. I am a self made person who has put in more than adequate hard work and overdrawn my body perhaps. Regards N. Gopalakrishnan 0000/0000

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
These symptoms are indicating circulatory problems in legs which are common in thisage and there may be present atherosclerosis that obstructs blood vessels and causes pain and blisters to form. You should do Doppler ultrasound of the leg or CT angiography to rule out such obstructive changes and then it can be treated properly by medications or by surgical and radiological procedures. ALso, you should have aspirine 100 and have elastic stockings applied, and should avoid cold environment and long walks.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
