Suggest Treatment For Test Finding Of Blood In Stools
My blood test keeps showing anemia - I have had upper GI, colonoscopy (found only internal hemorrhoids). I have had a CT Scan and ultrasound of the abdomen with all good results. No bacterial infection in the stomach was found from a biopsy. No visible signs of blood in urine or stool - blood was found in lab test of stool. What should I do next? I am 72 years old.

Hi Thanks for your query Based on your query and findings 1. You are having internal hemorrhoids which is presenting with occult bleed and not frank bleed per rectum. 2. Hemorrhoids results in blood loss and that's the cause for anemia. 3. Take iron supplements along with multivitamin. If your Hemoglobin and related parameters improve with it, then there is no need to bother. 4. Also take diet rich in fibre so that stool bulk us more and you won't have constipation and straining of stools. Straining causes the hemorrhoids to bleed easily. 5. If the condition is not improving then you can go for surgical removal Hope this helps Regards
