Suggest Treatment For Tachycardia In A Person With High BP

My heart rate is normally in the 70-80 range and tachycardia has never been an issue for me before. Earier tonight, my heartrate went up to 185 for about 30 minutes, at a time I wan t particularly stressed- in fact I was relaxed, watching a TV comedy stretched out on my recliner. Fortunately, it responded well to some interventions I found on line and is now back down to 73. Although I do have hypertension, at the time it started my BP was in the normal range, but about 15 min after it started, my BP was up to about 175/110. So my question is, at what point should I go to the hosp. if this recurrs?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The narrated episode of high BP and pulse indicate stress related changes via sympathetic pathway.

If the same happens at the resting stage, then physician consultation is mandatory otherwise follow up consulting with family doc will do.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
