Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Elephantiasis

Hi I Mr NK Shaikh iam from Mumbai , here I want to consult abt my younger sister , who I doubt is suffering frm elephantiasis,her left leg is swollen most of the time , she has possibly visited all the major doctors but nobody could treat her leg which is now only increasing, she is just 32 yrs old and has 3 small kids to look after , in current situation she is into extreme pain and her limb size and foot has increased. We are v worried and need guidance. Plz help us sir .

Hello,

Treatment of elephantiasis includes----
antiparasitic drugs, such as diethylcarbamazine (DEC).

Another, way to treat elephantiasis is to use DEC in combination with a medicine called ivermectin. This is also taken once a year, and the combination has shown better long-term results.

Mectizan, and albendazole (Albenza) ARE OTHER OPTIONS. Use good hygiene to clean the affected areas.

ElevatE the affected areas. Care for wounds in the affected areas. And exercising based on a doctor's directions. Please visit your clinician.
